We started our California region projects this week. We were put into groups of six and each group was assigned a region of California to research. Using iPads and laptops, we collected pictures and information about our regions to put into a Google Presentation. As you may have heard, we tried to Skype with a class in Australia to talk about Out of My Mind. The Skype didn't go so well, but what little we saw of them was exciting and we look forward to trying again this week. They said they saw our adorable, smiling faces. To celebrate our hard work over the first trimester, we had a celebration with Mrs. Lonaker's class and watched Monsters' University. We completed all of our book report presentations. What beautiful work everyone did! All of the book reports are on display around the room. In art class, we learned about drawing faces. We drew a picture of a mother and baby, then did a watercolor wash over the whole picture. We have a new read aloud book - Harriet the Spy! In writing, we completed our sun, moon and star paragraphs. This week, we will complete the essays and publish them! In music class, we learned a new song on the recorder that we will play in the concert. Speaking of music, Mrs. Winn got some new music to play during our work periods. We now also listen to Mozart for the Brain while we are giving our brains a workout.
